But can Yura see why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch?!
RECAP: As Yura has decided to take Airsoft more serious, she’s in need of more training. Thus, Sonora-senpai decides to take her on a trip to a local shrine where an archery range is housed. The goal: shoot a hanging coin. It is here where Yura learns that her imagination is a much stronger weapon on her side than she may have thought.
Sonora-senpai’s training is just as cryptic as an old shaolin monk’s teaching. Then again, she is merely repeating the ramblings of a hardened soldier she calls her mentor. But it is still not without merit, for the training exercise is meant to teach one to become one with the environment to achieve the goal. Some pretty spiritual stuff. Airsoft may be a sport, but it is also an art. So utilizing martial arts techniques is not entirely out of the box.
However, the spirituality does not end there. Yura’s encounter with “Choujirou” at the archery range can be interpreted in two ways: her imagination running wild and an actual spiritual connection. Both share the same result: Enlightening Yura to accept and believe in herself.
Earlier on this episode, Sonora-senpai mentioned that everyone sees Airsoft their own way. Some see it as a fun game, some see it as a serious sport; it is all in the eye of the beholder. To Sonora-senpai, Airsoft just may be the way she honors and remembers her late-teacher. It acts as the one true connection she had with him. What she is teaching Yura is essentially the same stuff he taught her, while being open to the fact that Yura is also searching for herself; something Sonora may have experienced in the past.
Because of Yura’s amazing imagination, she has the ability to truly feel the heat of battle, even though Airsoft is just a game. Slowly and surely, I believe that the rest of the team will come to feel the same way Yura does; Rento-san has already experienced it herself. Yura starts out as the timid amateur of the group, but I think through the future “imaginary” experiences, she will be the center of C3-bu by the end.
I call BS on this shot.
