It’s Manga Monday. A weekly post highlighting a different series. I’ll mostly do posts on completed or ongoing series that are regularly updated. While I do not condone scanlations, please support the creator and licensing companies by purchasing the work where available.
This week’s manga is – Shinonome Yuuko wa Tanpen Shousetsu o Aishite Iru
(Shinonome Yuuko Loves Short Stories)
“A man is a very small and ephemeral being, whose life would be summarized into a fifty-to-sixty page long short story. But I want more people to appreciate how fantastic their lives as short stories are. Short stories are indeed short, but they are full of interesting things once you read them. Even if your life is not an epic saga, it is still enough to touch others.”
Shinonome Yuuko is a book-loving librarian girl who has a secret identity…
Here’s a fairly new manga that started up several months ago. It’s an interesting romance-slightly-comedy new series that follows Minami Eita as he becomes interested in the quiet, bookworm Shinonome Yuuko. Not only does he have to deal with the relationship with her, but he must also deal with his previous unrequited love, his older brother’s girlfriend. So what is Shinonome’s secret? Well, it’s pretty integral to the rest of the story, so I’ll tell ya anyways: she’s an author for short stories. When she is asked to expand into longer novellas, she feels that she needs proper experience to do so. After all, she’s only in high school, so there is still so much left about life to learn to write from. And thus begins the fake boyfriend/girlfriend relationship between Minami and Shinonome. Although we know they’ll actually come to fall in love with each other, it’d be interesting to see if things will actually play out that way and how they will transfer from these awkward situations to real dates.
