Valvrave takes me by surprise by introducing TWO new pilots in one episode. Read more to find out who they are!
RECAP: With L-Elf a part of the team, the students of Module 77 undergo a serious change in order to better their survival rate against future attacks. Meanwhile, Inuzuka still grieves for the loss of Aina-chan and Thunder is confined for multiple attempts at trying to pilot a Valvrave. When Dorssia makes a surprise pincer attack, the two look inside themselves to see what they really want to accomplish with their loved ones gone from this world.
I’m glad that they took even a small moment of script dialogue to explain exactly why the students were ready to accept a DORSSIAN ELITE SOLDIER to become one of their leaders. After everything that has happened, I too would be willing to accept any possibility to continue the survival of myself and everyone around me. In doing so, L-Elf pretty much gave everyone tasks based on the school’s data on each and every student’s aptitude and abilities. I find it very funny that the up-tight Ninomiya Takahi and her girlfriends are stuck on Barrier Defense duty using finger gestures similar to the controls of an iPad.
We kind of knew this was going to happen eventually; at least with Thunder and how stubborn he is. What has come to my attention after browsing a few forum posts about Valvrave is the number “7.” Module 77, the Golden Seven (Valvraves)… If you’re familiar with the use of the number in multiple media formats, you’ll know that it can assumed that the Seven Deadly Sins will come into play. Don’t believe me? Think about the personalities of each of the characters that are currently Pilots.
Tokishima Haruto: Wrath (His anger is what fueled his power in ep.1)
Rukino Saki: Lust (She is an Idol and she lusts for all eyes to acknowledge her.)
Inuzuka Kyuma: Greed (He normally pays more heed to money than anything else. Even more, to pilot the Blue Valvrave, he decides to do so for his own sake.)
Yamada “Thunder” Raizo: Pride (His pride as the #1 bad-ass won’t allow himself to not exact revenge.)
That leaves us with three more Sins: Sloth, Gluttony, and Envy. So from this point on, while you watch the non-battle scenes, try to see whose personalities fit these categories. If they end up becoming pilots, you just might realize that there is more to piloting a Valvrave than just giving up one’s humanity.
Besides the new pilots, another of this week’s revelations is that the entirety of Module 77 was built around the Valvrave Project itself. Although it has been already hinted before, it seems that JIOR had originally planned on building itself its own force using a number of Valvrave mobile suits. The physics teacher, Kibukawa-sensei, has previously hinted that he knows Haruto’s father, and has now shown his true colors to L-Elf. How this new knowledge will benefit the defense of the students is still unknown, but with four piloted Valvraves, it seems we’ll see soon enough.
So what? I’m supposed to assume these guys are all buddy-buddy now? Is this some buddy cop drama now?
