Good food and good entertainment. Money can be used in many ways, Ledo.
RECAP: Ledo is still torn by this whole concept of “working” and money. In an effort to show him how he can make use of his time and money, Amy and Pinion show him how to have a “good time.” Bellows also offers him a job in the salvaging biz. So as to make use of his piloting skills, and not have Chamber do all the work, he takes up the offer. However, while on an expedition, Hideauze enemy readings trigger Chamber’s alert system.
Pinion, being a guy, knows exactly what he likes and wants to do with money: food and women. Considering the way Gargantia life is, I can’t blame the guy. Not like they have the entertainment of the internet like we do. Despite how charming Pinion’s plan seems to be, Bellows’ offer sounds a ton more effective for Ledo’s needs. This entire scene was pretty well done in giving us the enlightened feeling Ledo receives as he comes to understand how to live on Gargantia.
Due to Chamber’s amazing blunder of making mincemeat out of thousands of fish, thus wasting them, Ledo is forced to pilot. With him now seeing a use of his own person being able to work by properly piloting Chamber for the task, he now sees the direction he can go as far as “work” goes. Piloting Chamber is all he is good at, so why not make use of those abilities? Finally, Ledo sees how he can be useful.
Is this the Whalesquid that Bellows was talking about before? Because of the earlier incident, plus this event, we can relate that invertebrate Earth sea creatures are the most related to the Hideauze existence. With this, some progress is beginning to show in the primary plot. The main idea of “Salvaging” to find the lost treasures of old Earth hints that Old Earth has some connection to the Hideauze’s origins if we consider the sea creature connection. I can’t wait to see what happens next, now that we got some action coming up.
Romance is slowly creeping up on this man who knows nothing about the concept of it.
