It’s another “Calm Day” on Gargantia, so let’s take a break from work!
RECAP: Another day passes and Ledo contemplates his place in Gargantia society. Amy tries to help him find a job, but to no avail. Because of the calm winds, Pinion organizes a BBQ party with Ledo, Bebel, Amy, and her two friends, Saaya and Melty.
To be honest, this show is starting to feel quite lackluster, unless the next big story-changing event happens very soon. I get this whole “Ledo must find himself” ordeal, but the culture differences and all are making this feel like it’s taking a lot longer than it needs to. What I’m kind of hoping for is that we get a small time skip to a later point after Ledo doesn’t sound so awkward when talking in their language.
Anyways, about this episode. It pretty much acts as the gratuitous Beach episode to show off the girls in their skimpy swimsuits. However, it doubles as a chance for Ledo to learn the meaning of work and what it means to support the people around you through that work. But why find work when you can party, right Pinion? Although the party was just to cheer up Ledo, that’s quite the counter-intuitive plan. Well, it backfires pretty well on him when everyone and their mother finds out about the BBQ.
And so, by obtaining some mystical rare soy sauce from a creepy old lady blacksmith, Ledo got to learn the meaning of doing something for the sake of others. Again, I get the whole “find your purpose” thing, I’m pretty sure we all do at this point. The show just seems to be pushing it right in your face. What job will Ledo have if he’s not really great at anything but his militaristic lifestyle?
They’re amazed by your sweet bod, Ledo. Not every day you get three girls all up on you.
