Hikki used to be popular with GIRLS?! NO WAY!
RECAP: The class field trip is coming up soon, but first a Public Service Club request from the ever-popular classmate, Hayato. Apparently some nasty chain mails have been going around bad-mouthing Hayato’s friends, and he wants the culprit to stop, or at least make the situation better. The P.S. Club quickly figures out that the guys in question could possibly hold the source. Although Yui’s efforts bear no fruit, Hikki’s loner observational skills bring this case to a nice close.
Catching me completely off-guard, we get an entire prologue scene with Hikki and his little sister. Pretty much the complete opposite of Hikki’s attitude, the two are admirably quite close. Not “that” close, but they are able to act like siblings, despite their personalities. I hope there are more scenes with her in the future, because her ditzy imouto moments are quite refreshing.
I never thought we’d see Hayato again so soon. That tennis match last episode already ended practically with his victory. Those popular kids get all the cred, don’t they? Anyways, Sensei forwarded him to the Public Service Club for some helpful council. The request is definitely not a strange one, as stuff like nasty chain letters are not uncommon in the past several years. With the addition of the cell phone mail/text system, bad rumors can spread faster than they did in the 90s. Hayato, being the nice, popular guy he is, just can’t stand seeing his friends slandered. What’s surprising to me is that Hikki accepted helping without much resistance.
Yui’s investigation tactics brought on amusing results. It not only provided a scene to hint Yui’s (possible) romantic interest in Hikki, but it also added some personality to some of the recurring side character classmates. In fact, now that I think about it, every episode after the pilot has done this. Not that it is a bad thing, it is actually great because it helps set up the classroom in a way to make us, the audience, feel like we’re in the class with them.
In that sense, Hikki’s loner observation skills are similar to how we view the characters, more like a third party. Because of that point of view, he is able to figure out the real reason and sources of those chain letters. Whether he likes it or not, Hikki is cultivating an odd circle of friends with varying personalities. And oddly enough, he’s still able to continue his loner lifestyle… to a point.
Is this the owner of that dog that Hikki saved at the beginning of the school term, or is she someone from his middle school days? Her attire and gives off an outgoing personality, but she seems quite timid if all she wants is to thank Hikki. She looks to be an interesting addition to the rom-com harem that Hikki has going for him, but will she be able to top the cuteness that is Yui-chan?! ❤ …ahem. We’ll, hopefully, find out who she is next episode.
Great S-cry-ed reference here. 😀
