This promotional video says it all. Cartoon Network will be bringing back the international anime sensation, Naruto. Additionally, they will be starting from the very beginning.
Like most of my North American readers, I grew up with the Toonami block as an afterschool special to sit back, relax, and catch some good shows, like: Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, and especially Dragonball Z. Now, Toonami has been reborn as some late-night Saturday special during the Adult Swim hours. While I am glad that Toonami is back (even though I rarely watch actual TV these days), I am very disappointed that of all the shows to air in their (Cartoon Network’s) only “anime” block, that it be Naruto. I mean, check out what the line-up will be when it returns:
01:00 Tenchi Muyo GXP
02:00 Samurai 7
02:30 Symbionic Titan
03:00 Eureka 7
03:30 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
04:00 Cowboy Bebop
04:30 Cowboy Bebop
Toonami has fallen far from how it used to be. Then again, that just may be my nostalgia goggles going full zoom, or this generation of kids are full on retard. To think there are a number of anime that have been dubbed and they could have gone through the trouble of acquiring televising rights. I’ve been waiting for Panty & Stocking to come from somewhere. That show just begs to be on late night TV.
