Manga Monday Ch.2: Kamen Teacher

Changed the Rules for Manga Monday, since it seems all I get with the “Random” button is Yaoi and dead series.

The name of the game is “Manga Monday.”  The rules?  Hit the “Random” button on any Manga reader website until I find something that looks promising.  I’ll mostly do posts on completed or ongoing series that are regularly updated.  While I do not condone scanlations, please support the creator and licensing companies by purchasing the work where available.

This week’s manga is – Kamen Teacher

Serialized in 2006-07, another delinquent-reforming manga from Fujisawa Toru, author of the famous series, GTO – Great Teacher Onizuka.

Mangareader.net Summary:

Kyokuran is a public high school with 80% delinquents.  Araki Gota and Kamen Teacher are new teachers that have been hired to solve the problems.  Will they be able to properly give a lesson to these delinquents?

Hako’s Thoughts:

To be honest, I’ve already read all of this series.  It took two things that I already had genuine interest in, “Kamen Rider” and “Delinquent-reforming series,” and put them together.  While not so Kamen Rider-ish, the helmet was still badass-looking.

Anyways, just based off of the first chapter, here’s what I can tell you.  This series starts out very typical of its genre.  Energetic teacher is set up to teach a class of delinquents.  It’s funny how the students are not flabbergasted at the fact that their teacher totally survived a punch out the window, falling 3 floors down.  What brings most interest out of this is how different Araki and the Kamen (Masked) Teacher handle the students.  Araki seems like he’ll get pushed around a lot, but the chapter’s last page of Kamen Teacher seems like he means serious business.

Definitely a series worth picking up, especially if you’re looking for something from the Deliquent-reforming genre.
