Sadly, I am not talking about AFA, but rather AnimeUSA in Washington DC. Over the years, I have wanted less and less to go to anime conventions in the U.S. unless there was a special guest that I desperately wanted to see. (Tomokazu Seki signing my “Anime Tenchou” visor at Baltimore’s Otakon was a glorious day indeed.) Besides, why spend extra cash on figurines at cons when you can buy them via the interwebs? I also despise the underage anime fanbase audience that usually attend such conventions. Aah! Why can’t they be more like AFA and Comiket?
Anyways, it’s Saturday. What does that mean? My Little Pony Season 3? New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Time to catch up on anime? Yup, all of that. A couple series I’ve backlogged are: MuvLuv Alternative: Total Eclipse, Robotics;Notes, and Shinsekai Yori.
Also, I decided not to be a hypocrite (again) and eventually TRY to watch Sword Art Online. After the horrible writing and pacing of Accel World, I instantly disliked the Light Novel writer, Kawahara Reki. Furthermore, I often read about the shortcomings every week about why Kirito is a more broken, plot-armored character than Naruto, Luffy, and Ichigo combined. I try not to judge a series based on community response alone. But when you hear stuff like the story breaking the rules it set for itself, you tend to wonder, “Seriously?”
